Cold and wet isn’t usually what comes to mind when you think of the desert, but apparently it isn’t that unusual. It can also be quite destructive: Regardless how much California may need water the land is resistant and flash floods and mud slides are common, especially in areas that have recently been devastated by fire.

Prohibited from driving to Pioneertown by a stream crossing the road I instead stopped and took some photos in rather aversive weather.
